This is a non-optional assessment that we must give all of our students, so I apologize for any disruption or stress this causes. MAP Testing for Reading begins this Friday, October 13, 2017. We will have two hour block scheduling for my class and Mr. Chapman's class, but your time with Ms. McCoy and Ms. Kiser will be split as usual. Make sure to bring things to do for when you complete the test (i.e. homework for other classes, a book to read, crossword puzzles, coloring sheets, etc.) as you will not be permitted to talk!

Due to the upcoming Field Trip on October 5, 2017, I am extending the deadline for the Holocaust Independent Reading Group Projects to October 11, 2017. This is the day that we get back from Fall Break! Because of this extension, no further extensions will be granted. However, if your group would still like to turn in the project on October 5th, I will give your group 5 points of Extra Credit.

Tomorrow (September 12, 2017) is the field trip to see Actor's Theatre's production of Dracula! If you turned in a permission slip, make sure to bring your sack lunch (if you specified you were bringing one) and to dress in business casual attire. Remember, we will still be going to first period, so bring your school supplies for that class as well!
Open House is on Thursday, September 14, 2017! Come with your parent so that they can get to know me and the other Scholars teachers!
Finally, Picture Day is on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. My class will go down at 9:45am (Sigma class) to get pictures taken. There may be a hold in transitioning to third period as a result of this (we will keep you posted). If you would like to purchase your school photos, please make sure to bring your money and order form with you on or before Picture Day!

Welcome to the 8th grade! We are going to have a fantastic year together and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. I will strive to do my best to help you learn and grow both as a student in my classroom, as well as a human being that will one day go on to do new, innovative, and incredible things for this world. Let's do our best to start out on a positive and strong note, give each other, ourselves, and our classmates our best, and make this school year the best one yet!
